A Glacier Audio Company

Gilmore Audio Digital PreAmp

Blackbird

Class A, Balanced Differential with Each Input Individually Buffered

  • Input impedance of 500K – eliminates need for expensive cabling
  • Very low impedance internal buss (50 ohm)

Output Stage Is An Instrumentation Amp (Think precision oscilliscope-quality)

  • Fast
  • Incredible Frequency Response (DC to 500kHz min.)
  • High Output (50 ohm Load at Full Output)
  • Incredibly Low Noise (Very High Common Mode Rejection),

Sealed Chassis

  • 1/2-inch machined T-6061 aircraft aluminum
  • Impervious to Dust or Dirt – can be installed anywhere
  • Built Like a Tank – you can drive your car over it
  • High quality composite feet from EAR that provide measurable dampening

Sixty-Position Analog Attenuator and Full-Feature Remote

Unique L + R Channel Balance-Control - Allows each channel to be adjusted relative to the other, yet maintains coupling (relative skew) over entire range

Single-Ended or Balanced Inputs and Outputs, Including Tape Monitor

Home Theatre Bypass Switch (Converts preamp to unity gain line stage)

Adjustable Line Stage Gain (6 or 12 dB)

Headphone Amp Built-In (Very pure – comes right off line stage with duplicate isolated output)

No Coupling Capacitors in Signal Path (n/a for phono stage)

Built-In Power Conditioning

Variable Effects:

  • High Frequency
Dissonance Filter – attenuates frequencies 1.5 kHz to 3.5 kHz with resultant reduction in perceived high frequency distortion or dissonance (to be used with recordings with perceived harshness or shrillness)
  • Harmonic Enhancement
Modulation- for those who prefer the syrupy "triode sound" you can add up to 10% of 2nd order distortion
  • Bass Synthesizer
For use with speakers that do not reproduce low bass effectively – this cuts off all frequencies below 50 Hz and generates very low frequency bass within the room itself by combining different higher bass fundamentals to produce lower ones – a technique well known since Bach. (Turns bookshelf speakers into a bass powerhouse.)
