Monterey Listening Room: David & Mary Stewart From the higher fidelity of FM over AM on my first clock radio in 1970 up until today, I've always been amazed at the increased "connection" with music via improvements in either source or equipment. This has allowed a renewed sense of discovery countless times with songs I've heard all my life. The playback system has always been a means to that end of being moved and totally immersed in music. As my music library has expanded over the decades (12k plus lps, 2k plus cds, 1000s yet to be heard) in its breadth and depth, so has the ability of my stereo to capture it. I even feel so bold as to believe my system allows me an accurate sense of the artists' intent. I've never been in the component of the month club. Carefully choosing them has allowed me to be satisfied sometimes up to ten years with my decisions. Beyond the sheer joy of experiencing music, I've found for me a healing quality in its ability to reduce the stresses of everyday life. I NEED my music. We live in a small condominium with a listening room about fifteen feet by sixteen feet. Other than a brief evaluation period, all the components in my system are owned outright. Even if you're not in the market for new speakers or an amp now, come by for a listen. Bring your own source, or for that matter source component. Monterey /Carmel /Pacific Grove is gorgeous. We have a great aquarium, wineries, shopping, restaurants, hiking, etc. to keep your significant other occupied if listening isn't their thing or if you'd like to make it a vacation getaway.
